THE PARIS CONVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY

 

Paris convention means the Pairs Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of the 20th March, 1883, as revised or amended form time to time.

Convention Country

 

Convention country means a country other than Pakistan which is a party to the Paris Convention.

Convention Application

A "Convention application" means an application duly made by a person for registration of a trade mark in one or more than one Convention country.

 

According to Pakistan Trade Mark Laws (Intellectual Property laws) foreign companies from one or more than one convention country can register their Logos, Brands, industrial designs, domain names in Pakistan. All they need to do just to provide officially attested copy of trade mark duly registered in their country.

Above all, any filing for registration is made within prescribed priority period which in a Convention country is equivalent to a regular national filing, under its domestic legislation or an international agreement, shall be treated as giving rise to the right of priority.
